BROCKLEHURST FLOORING
FAQ’s: Carpet
Please read these along-side our Terms and Conditions
- Will you move furniture?
If we have charged for moving furniture, then this will include moving all furniture that was present when we measured. Please will you empty drawers, move breakables, unwire electrics and take linen off beds prior to our visit.
- Will you move wardrobes?
Yes. as long as emptied, however ‘flat pack’ furniture isn’t really designed to be moved once assembled and occasionally they will break as we move them. Therefore, unless taken to pieces prior to our arrival then this is done at your risk.
- Will your quote cover all work to sub-floor?
In nearly all cases – yes, however very occasionally we will uplift the old flooring and find something that wasn’t obvious when the old floor was down. This may include damp in the floor or crumbling concrete or alarm cables that weren’t obvious under old flooring. If this happens, we will give you a quote to rectify if it’s something that we are equipped to carry out.
- Why do you ask for balance of payment before fitting?
While most of our customers have paid up promptly over the years, a small minority haven’t which has taken an inordinate amount of time to recover and sometimes we don’t ever recover payment. Should there be an issue with your floor we can refund you 10% of the value of your order pending resolution.
- If there is a problem with my flooring / carpet, will you resolve it?
Yes.
- If I am having a stair runner, will I need to touch up paintwork on steps afterwards?
Quite possibly. If there is any movement in the stairs, then the riser of tread may move as we bolster in carpet causing the paint to crack between tread and riser. Please allow for touch up afterwards.
- Will carpet fitting mark my skirtings?
Usually no, however paint can take a few days to cure completely so if it is freshly painted then it will mark as we tuck carpet behind gripper. Also, some ‘flatweave’ carpets have a very sharp edge and can mark paintwork as we tuck in. It is best to expect some touching up after fitting.
