  1. Will you move furniture?

If we have charged for moving furniture, then this will include moving all furniture that was present when we measured.  Please will you empty drawers, move breakables, unwire electrics and take linen off beds prior to our visit.

  1. Will you move wardrobes?

Yes. as long as emptied, however ‘flat pack’ furniture isn’t really designed to be moved once assembled and occasionally they will break as we move them.  Therefore, unless taken to pieces prior to our arrival then this is done at your risk.

  1. Will your quote cover all work to sub-floor?

In nearly all cases – yes, however very occasionally we will uplift the old flooring and find something that wasn’t obvious when the old floor was down.  This may include damp in the floor or crumbling concrete or alarm cables that weren’t obvious under old flooring.  If this happens, we will give you a quote to rectify if it’s something that we are equipped to carry out.

  1. Why do you ask for balance of payment before fitting?

While most of our customers have paid up promptly over the years, a small minority haven’t which has taken an inordinate amount of time to recover and sometimes we don’t ever recover payment.  Should there be an issue with your floor we can refund you 10% of the value of your order pending resolution.

  1. If there is a problem with my flooring / carpet, will you resolve it?

Yes.

  1. If I am having a stair runner, will I need to touch up paintwork on steps afterwards?

Quite possibly.  If there is any movement in the stairs, then the riser of tread may move as we bolster in carpet causing the paint to crack between tread and riser.  Please allow for touch up afterwards.

  1. Will carpet fitting mark my skirtings?

Usually no, however paint can take a few days to cure completely so if it is freshly painted then it will mark as we tuck carpet behind gripper.  Also, some ‘flatweave’ carpets have a very sharp edge and can mark paintwork as we tuck in.  It is best to expect some touching up after fitting.

  1. If there is a problem with my flooring / carpet, will you resolve it?

Yes.

  1. I have underfloor heating. Do I need to switch this off prior to fitting?

Yes, please.  Switch off 24 hours prior to fitting and switch on 24 hours after fitting.  It is essential that the temperature is raised slowly.  We recommend 2 degrees a day.  The surface temperature must not exceed 27 degrees.

  1. Is temperature important when fitting Amtico?

Yes, it needs to be between 18 – 30 degrees.  If your house is a building site without heating, then it is better to wait until the heating is in or heat with blow heaters.

  1. Will you protect our floor?

We feel it is very important that if contractors will be working on the floor after we finish it is they who organise the floor protection as it is their responsibility to protect the floor from any further works they do.

Please note, that if you are covering the floor with Corex, it is essential to put paper underneath.  Otherwise mould may develop on surface of LVT.

  1. Can LVT be fitted in extremely hot or cold conditions?

No.  If it is winter and we are fitting on a site with no heating, the temperature mustn’t be less than 18 degrees. This means that you may need to get electric heaters in to warm things up.  We will also need to drop the materials around a day before fitting.  The same goes if the temperature inside exceeds 30 degrees.  Both these situations may cause problems with the LVT moving after installation.

  1. You have quoted for a smoothing component. Will this mean my floor will be level?

Not necessarily.  We will smooth out the floor however this will only be 3mm over the existing sub-floor.  If the floor is not level, this may be visible after the floor is fitting.  Usually this is only visible when there is a strong light.
